NOTD: My FFA Officer Team

Keeping up with my FFA themes this month, here is my officer team! I put FFA on my right thumb and FS on my left for my school. It sure was a challenge painting these faces. I sketched them out roughly first so I kinda knew where I was going. I seriously do not have good drawing skills. I can draw freaky people like this and flowers.
It took my an hour and a half to paint everything. I mixed most of my own colors to customize the skin tones and hair. I even made everyone have eye color! You will notice the strange looking person on my left pinky. Was that on purpose? or was it simply due to being the last nail and I was tired? I'll let you decide...

Here are my links to my other FFA nail art ideas: National FFA Week  and Convention

NOTD: Halloween Town

One of my favorite Halloween movies is Halloweentown. If you've never heard of it, seriously, look it up! Its a Disney kids movie, haha.
I did some nails based off of it! On my thumb I have Benny the tax driving skeleton when he is angry, the magical wand thingy that helps break the spell, and the Jack-o-Lantern that is a figure of the town. I didn't know what else to paint so I just put H and T for Halloweentown.. So creative.... Again, I waited too long to take these pictures and they are a little chipped.

Paint Used:
Americana "White Wash"
                 "Ebony"
                 "Cranberry Wine"
                 "Saffron Yellow"
Apple Barrel "Brown Oxide"
Folk Art "Metallic Silver Sterling"

NOTD: Bluebirds

This is the first design I have done with only acrylic paint! I mixed the colors to look like a gradient then failed at painting lines that are supposed to resemble reeds and a bird with a huge head. My skills have been improving though! I also made a lightbox!!!! Don't my pictures look nice? It was super easy to make.

Paints Used:
Americana "White Wash"
                 "Ebony"
Folk Art "Metallic Blue Pearl"
              "Brilliant Blue"

Day 14: Spring Design of Your Choice, LAST DAY!

It's the last day! I had so much fun doing this challenge. I got to be creative and come up with all sorts of designs. I enjoyed it much more than the 31 Day Challenge. That thing stressed me out. 14 days is much more manageable.
My spring design is a chartreuse and blue ruffian with flowers! Are ruffian manicures still in? I don't know.... I saw it in my Nail It! magazine for spring so I guess they are still kinda in style. I did one for Halloween once with blood red and dark grey to make it look like my nails were being ripped off.......... It did look pretty cool.

Nail Polish Used:
Pure Ice "Wild Thing"
              "Celestial"

Acrylic Paints:
Folk Art "Brilliant Blue"
Americana "Citron Green"

Day 13: The Paper Gal- Newspaper Transfer

I have never done newspaper print nails, I shouldn't have waited so long, they are cool! I tried to make it look vintage with pretty muted flowers. I really like how it turned out! I didn't do such a good job around my cuticles though.... I have had this one for a few days and the urge to pick at it overcame me. Ugh.... I did cover up more newsprint than I wanted to but at least you can still see it in the background.

Nail Polish Used:
Markwins in a medium-dark nude
Sinful Colors "Snow Me White"

Acrylic Paints:
Folk Art "Pink"
Apple Barrel Colors "Kelly Green"
                                "Territorial Beige"

NOTD: Easter Bunnies!

I bring to you a hopping Easter bunny manicure!! I found this look last year on YouTube and tried it out.. lets just say it is much better this year! The little bunnies are hopping around up to the clouds! The one on my pinky had to take a rest so he is sitting on the ground. I decided I hadn't used acrylic paint in a while and this would be the perfect look to paint with them! I mixed the blues for the clouds and the greens and yellows for the grass. The tools I used were a couple of dotting tools and for the grass I used my fan brush (Brand: Royal & Langnickel, size: 20/0, purchased: Micheal's).

Paint and Polish Used:
Americana  "Royal Fuchsia"
                   "Saffron Yellow"
                   "Citron Green"
                   "Calypso Blue"
                   "Lamp (Ebony) Black"
                   "White Wash"
Folk Art "Baby Pink"

NOTD: Fan Brush Stripes

Hey guess what!? I created a Facebook page as an extension to my blog!! I am going to use it as a place to put extra stuff I didn't really think would fit as a blog post. I will also be putting up my nail art there as well. This does not mean I am stopping my blog, I just wanted a new way to reach people and bring them to my blog. :D Here is the link, please like it for me! facebook.com/KarenLovesNailPolish

Today I have experimented with two things: acrylic paint and a fan brush. This is my first time using both. I first painted the base coat a light minty blue. I then took my fan brush and dipped just the tips in the pink and swiped it on. Next, I layered on the light blue and finally the dark blue. I added some more pink on top to make it stand out some more. Is is super, super easy and fun to do, I am already thinking of more colors to use!

Nail Polish/Paint Used:
Americana  "Royal Fuchsia" and "Calypso Blue"
Folk Art "Brilliant Blue"
Wet n Wild "I Need a Refresh-Mint"
